CONFESSIONS OF AN OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE - blog eight

I'm defeated.

How do you efficiantly (and efficiantly being the opperative word) wash a sieve? It is harder than it sounds. Try it - i'm serious. The perforated beast of a kitchen implement! I'm sweating because I feel out of control.

There are still 'bits' in the holes however hard I scrub and I need to go and scream into a pillow.

  1. The washing of sieves demands skill, patience, a hammer and a large bowl of hot, soapy water.
    1. Soak sieve in bowl for at least twenty minutes.
    2. Scrub sieve well with a scouring pad.
    3. If the sieve cleans - fine!
    4. If not, pick up the hammer and apply firmy to sieve before tossing its crumpled remains into the nearest dustbin.
    5. Go to Trago Mills and buy another sieve.

  2. Jessica and Oz,

This blog has been really helpful.

Jessica, I'm glad I'm not the only one who is agrivated by the difficulty of cleaning a sieve. I've felt this way for a long time but have never really found a way to bring the subject out into the open through an illogical fear of emasculation.

Oz, I'm glad I decided to make a comment or else I would never have been privy to your wisdom.

    Thank you both.

I'm off to Go Compare to see where the best place is to bulk-buy sieves.

    Andy
